I never buy anything that you have to send for via a television commercial, but see a lot of this stuff at Walgreens. These planters, if they work as well as they say, seem like a good idea for .99, and no shipping/handling charges. Are they as good as they sound or just another gimmick that’ll end up in the garbage?

I want to buy a couple of the upside down hanging planters for growing tomatoes and jalapenos. I am wondering if they work, are sturdy and if there are any tips about how to use them. I am also wondering do you need to add any special soil or fertilizers. Does the soil dry out faster?
