do the topsy turvy hanging planters for tomatoes work well?

I want to buy a couple of the upside down hanging planters for growing tomatoes and jalapenos. I am wondering if they work, are sturdy and if there are any tips about how to use them. I am also wondering do you need to add any special soil or fertilizers. Does the soil dry out faster?

You can make your own quite easily and save a lot of money. I found that they did not work for me very well.. and ended up making my own the next year. They were not as sturdy as they needed to be.
Try hanging a 5 gal container, with small holes in the bottom, on a chain they will grow up then out and down over the pot.
You could easily do the same for the peppers, they just would need upright room and space to grow as they don’t vine or trail if you will, like a tomato plant does.
