Put your herbs in water in a jar or put them into a flat plastic container in the fridge and use them up as quickly as possible. This item is a waste of money.

I so much wanted this appealing container to work for me. But the basil, which I put in the container with water on my counter, as the instructions that came with the product instructed, molded in two days. The cilantro with root attached which I stored in the container in the refrigerator did not last any longer than it usually does – in the refrigerator in a glass of water. The chervil was so maddeningly difficult to get through the grate at the bottom that I gave up. The cilantro I bought at a farmers market which was clipped from the plant rather than root-attached had the same problem. I have since read the reviews here and quite a few of them are extremely positive – even keeping basil fresh for two weeks! I am not sure I believe them with respect to basil unless they used rooted basil only. Someone else had the same problem with basil that I did. The product now even says it is not suitable for basil. If you have household members who knock over glasses or jars of water in the refrigerator this might be of use to you. I am happy to stay with glasses or jars of water. Easy to use. Free. And they work just as well at keeping herbs fresh as the herb savor.

As a long time gardener who has dealt with the problem of how to keep my recently picked herbs fresh in my refrigerator, I’m sad to report that this product is a total waste of money.
To do what this product does, all you need are the cylindrical plastic disposable food containers you get a supermarkets. Herbs last just as long in them. And since they have more volume, they work better.
Save your money and use the containers form the supermarket.

Aug 9: Checked today and the herbs still look fresh and ready to use for cooking. I stored both parsley and rosemary in the herb keeper and both look good to cook with. I will use the rosemary tomorrow when I bake rosemary chicken with potatoes. Terrific product which will help save money as the herbs seem to keep fresher longer.
I love to use fresh herbs in cooking but always hated the waste as there was no convenient way to store herbs.
Through Amazon I received the Prepa Herb Savor and promptly purchased some fresh rosemary and parsley.
I first washed the Preppa Herb Savor (the directions did not require this but I am a clean freak) dried the container and well before proceeding to do the following:
Washed and dried the herbs then placed them in the cabinet.
Sealed the cabinet using directions.
Removed the plug from the water well and filled it with water.
Placed the unit inside the refrigerator door shelf where it fits nicely.
The herbs are stored in a vertical position and I was able to fit bushy parsley (not the whole large bunch but most of it) and the rosemary into the container.
Today when I checked the herbs they looked as fresh as when originally purchased. I will update this review, if I notice any significant change but so far everything looks good.
Other nifty features: The container comes with a stainless steel drainer you can use to wash herbs and then help keep them together.
I love to use herbs in cooking and with this kitchen tool I will be doing so more often. The Prepara Herb Savor makes it handy to do so.

the only draw back (?) is that the pod will not hold an entire bunch of parsley/cilantro (maybe the bunches are just really big out here?) – i have to divide a bunch of parsley/cilantro into two pods……but the pod definitely works.
