We bought our first composter recently, the Urban Compost Tumbler. While reading through the directions, I had a bit of confusion. It recommends fully loading the composter and not adding additional compostable materials once you’ve completed the initial load. I’m hoping to find out what other folks who use compost tumbler do to manage their compost queue.
We only have one compost tumbler, and don’t plan on buying a second one. Is this a feasible approach? Do you just add new compost material to the tumbler frequently until you’re almost ready to harvest the compost? Do you keep it in a separate garbage can prior to putting it in the tumbler? Some other approach?
In terms of the actual compost material, we’re pretty set, and already have our first batch.
Your thoughts and input appreciated!

the most important part of last years plan was to keep the resolutions doable. Everything that was started was essentially completed. True, it could be a touch, but each little helps. Learn more on the topic of sciatica. Somebody had an interest in finding some good books or websites for herbs and eatable plants. Now, for the 2009 gardening resolutions, Im thinking along the lines of a to do more. Bothering to layout your garden and plan before you start planting will significantly benefit the output, cut back on space and cut the amount of work to maintain your garden. It’s best to base the types and number of plants on what your folks likes and eats. When you decide on what plants you need to plant you need to know what plants do well being planted with one another and which plants do not. When preparing the layout of your plants you need to keep the taller plants to the north-facing side of the garden so they will not shade the sun from the shorter plants. Second , I resolve to do more to guarantee there’s enough home-made compost this year to cover all the garden areas. Last year, some of the gardening budget needed to be used to bolster the planted areas with compost.
