I want to plant a flower garden in the front of my house. My problem is that the spot that I want to garden gets a lot of rain because of the run-off from the roof. This is the only spot that I can put a flower bed for the front of my house. Any ideas on some flowers that are easy to grow?

Lately I’ve been at home bored when I’m not at work and I want something to do to keep my occupied, so I was thinking of planting some flowers. What kind of flowers are good to plant during the summer months (considering the hot weather and such). I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth are of Texas if that helps. They will be in the shade of a tree but at some point during the day might get direct sunlight. I want colorful flowers but am not sure which will work… Thanks!

Hello. I have sandy soil, live in Michigan, zone 5. The area I want flowers in is about 6×10. The area gets full sun all day and most sun after 2pm. House faces west, the flowers are to be in the front of the house. What flowers are really easy to start with, and what combinations should I use. Any really good websites anyone knows of could help too.

I’m going to plant a little herb garden. Which plants could I plant now (from seed or seedling – I don’t mind which). It’s New Zealand early autumn now – but very mild.

I’m getting married on 2/20/10 and I was looking for some ideas for winter wedding flowers. My colors are light pink and espresso brown. I obviously know that roses are always in season, and they will be the staple flower in the bouquets, but I’m also looking for some supplemental flowers for the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres. I want to stay away from red flowers (too cliche around Valentine’s Day) and I like the more traditional blooms. Also, I live in Minnesota, if that makes a difference regarding my selection. Thanks in advance!

I have been growing vegetables in England outdoors, but without much success, as the seeds have not been germinating well. I heard from a friend that her daughter had been germinating seeds out of paper towels at school.
Is it a good idea for me to germinate seeds from paper towels then put them back into the soil?
How do you do this?
And what the conditions needed and is there any other ways for seeds to germinate?
And last thing can any plant be germinated this way of method?
Many thanks!

I’ve heard that topsoil is really good but what would happen to the tortoise if it consumes the topsoil.

I’m trying to grow lavender, chamomile, sage, mint, and basil. If anybody has any other plants that are good for homemade teas or anything with medicinal properties that would be alright to grow indoors I’d love that too.
