Topsy Turvy Tomatoes, Peppers, Upside Down Garden Containers & Herbs

by admin on May 28, 2010

This is our second post on YouTube with the Topsy Turvy. Everything is going well except for the strawberries. As I feared, after checking out other videos here, I caught the bug and this morning I forced my wife into the car and off to the local nursery we went. Down the aisles I ran tossing supplies into the cart as I pulled her behind me….hangers, pots, Miracle Gro w/ Moisture Control and of course more vegetables. We got home and immediately started cutting the centers out of the containers, putting up the hangers and began planting. Hope you enjoy our video and if anyone has any advice or suggestions, please feel free to post them. Thanks for watching!

Everything looks great! Good luck with everything! Have you fertilzed your strawberries? They look dry and nitrogen deficient. Just a guess.

The containers look awesome. You have lots to follow now. Best of luck and I’ll be watching.

hi…what kind of soil did you use? i just did mine and i used potting soil instead of garden soil…is that a mistake?

First..I don’t endorse the brand, this is just what I use. I mix 1/3 Miracle Gro Garden Soil for Flowers and Veggies, 1/3 Miracle Gro Potting Mix w/ Moisture Control and 1/3 Bumpercrop. I sprinkle in a little blood meal and a little bone meal. I also crush up 2 egg shells and put them in the tomato soil. I am by no means an expert…there are a lot of better gardeners out there…that’s just what I use. Thank you for asking and good luck with yours!

Thanks much! I have found that the most important thing is to water them regularly. Since everything I have is in containers, they drink up the water fairly quickly.
